    Hello , I has the same problem ,so i had uninstalled InCD as follows and then everything worked.

    1) In Control Panel, click add/remove programs, and after that uninstall InCD.
    2) Reboot the computer without any media in all your readers
    3) hope, Normally everything should work.

    you can try cd-burning too after that

    This problem may occur when the burning program CD supplied by Roxio Easy CD Creator is installed on the computer and the version of this program is not compatible with Windows XP.

    The 4.x and earlier versions of Easy CD Creator is not supported in Windows XP.

    If the Easy CD Creator 3.x or 4.x is installed on the computer, delete it, then contact Roxio to upgrade to a version of Easy CD Creator supported in Windows XP. For more information on how to remove the program from the computer, contact Roxio or see the documentation for that program.

    To contact Roxio, visit the Roxio Web site at:
    http://www.roxio.com

    If the Easy CD Creator 5.0x is installed on the computer, install the update for Windows XP Easy CD Creator that is available from Roxio. For more information on how to download and install this update, visit the Roxio Web site at:
    http://www.roxio.com/en/support/index.jhtml

    If You are Unable to read discs burned with Nero and if they work on another computer: then Simply do an uninstall then reinstall of your burning program.

    Your drive is not recognized in Windows Media Player. The Recording tab has disappeared in the properties of the drive. Your drive is reported in Windows Explorer as a simple CD-ROM. You can also get this error message: "The service can not be started because it is disabled or no active device associated with it." Here is a fairly long procedure but has the merit of work for sure (in my experience):
    1) Go to Device Manager.
    2) Open the CD / DVD Drives branch.
    3) Remove all present entries .
    4) Open the IDE ATA/ATAPI branch then uninstall the secondary controller.
    5) In the registry check that these keys are no longer present:
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ CD Burning \ Drives.
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Enum \ IDE \ Reference recorder.
    If this is not the case then remove them.
    6) In Add / Remove Programs uninstall all burning programs. If you have installed Nero or InCD
    7) Uninstall Windows Media Player.
    8) Restart your computer.
    9) Download and install install the updated version of Windows Media Player
    11) Click on Start / Run, then type: services.msc
    12) In IIS Manager, double-click the service name: COM IMAPI CD-burning Service. The launch of this service should simply be set on "Automatic" mode.
    13) Open Windows Explorer.
    14) With the right mouse click the drive letter representing your drive, then click the Properties command.
    15) Click the Save tab and check the Enable CD recording on this drive.
    16) Make a test of the burning with utility in built into Windows.
    17) Then proceed to reinstall your burning programs.
