How to connect 2.1 and 5.1 speakers in one mobo

hi
i am having computer that i bought 2 years before but that was without speakers i was using headphones but now i want to know how i can connect speaker to my computer till i have not think about 2.1 or 5.1 but it will be better if you suggest me for both to connect 2.1 and 5.1 speakers.

It is important to know that which motherboard you are having like from that you can able to know that your motherboard having 5.1 speaker support or not because to use 5.1 you must need to have hardware support.so first check for that audio card support.

Connecting 2.1 speaker is much easier than 5.1 speaker if you check your motherboard audio connection you will find three ports with this color Green , Red , Blue so connect your speaker green cable in to green port of motherboard you will get sound also similarly you can connect 5.1 according to color.
