Record via Firewire on Vista MCE

Everyone is now familiar with the Media Center Edition of Windows Vista. I just need a general information on recording shows on the Media center. Among the firewire support and usb which is much better. As we receive both of them on the set top box. I have a Motorola dct set top box on my Media center pc with a Firewire support. I slightly bit confused between both the terms. What is difference between both firewire and usb. From both of them which will give a much better output.

Re: Record via Firewire on Vista MCE

I am listing you some differences and comparison of a firwire and usb device. Both of them are now a popular type of cable connectors. So here you want to know that among them which one gives you more performance. This can be judge by doing a comparison between both the terms. I will list the comparison as per usb version and the fireware version. The comparison is as follows. The data transfer rate among them is USB 1.1 - 12 mbps, USB 2.0 - 480 mbps, Firewire 400 - 400 mbps and Firewire 800 - 800 mbps. This all are plug and play device. They all support a serial bus type. The cable is different for both of them. The networking in USB is host based and while in Firewire it is peer to peer based. So you can now understand that what is the major difference. It is the data transfer rate. You can get more data and high performance from the firewire support.

Firewire is much more faster then usb cable support. The major difference among them is that Firewire gaves out Peer to Peer architecture support that is a intelligent way of transferring data and reducing the conflict among devices. It the best way to control data. and while usb 2.0 allows a master-slave type of architecture. The computer which is connected to a device via usb support handles all the flaws, functions and show the path of data flow from the source to destination. So this result in slower data transfer. In a simple term Firewire is a high performance serial bus which is most commonly known as 1394 connector.

The firewire is the best one now. You have noticed that many PC and other devices are not adding up a firewire support. Especially the media center one. Traditional pc does not have a firewire in them. You need to add a additional card for the same. Firewire is mainly for fast computing and transferring data at a higher rate. In a media center pc if you have a firewire support you programs will be recorded much faster by the TV Tuner card as compare to a usb attachment. It is like a high speed data transfer speed which offers around 800mpbs of maximum transfer rate.
