Problem with the S-video output on HP laptops

I have two laptop UN Pavilion dv2742se HP and Compaq 6510b. Both laptops are equipped with

• Graphics Card Mobile Inel (R) 965 Express Chipset Family
• Windows Vista Home Premium + Ubuntu
• S-Video
• An S-Video Cable (7 Pins) to RCA (delivered with the laptop)

I want to use the S-Video to display on my TV screen.

Can some one help me ?

Have you tried to boot your laptop in VGA mode, maybe it's a resolution problem?
I am assuming that you have activated the second screen of the software via the graphic card. trying to test the output s-video if it sends a signal or not.

Connect to the TV, switch to AV, power on the laptop and that's it. I activate the TV output via fn + f7. Then, when the OS loads I can choose different output options in Graphics Properties. Also, extended desktop option seem to give the best picture on tv.

I think your TV cable is not right. here is some important steps :

• laptop is off
• Connect your tv
• switch the TV to AV
• turn on the laptop
• press fn + f7 (you might have to press the combination few times)
• Try this before your OS starts loading.
