The gain will be mainly in access time the speed you can see , but in any case, it's part of things to do to make it more efficient . Know that noise in disk not longer in 7200 than in 5400, against it by the autonomy that goes down a little.Actually you must have to understand speed and access time. You focus on the access time maintaining a speed acceptable....
AMD and Seagate introduced capabilities of the future standard SATA 3, whose rates are expected to cap at 6 Gbps, more than twice the current SATA 2. Neither AMD nor Seagate, has not yet officially launched products using this new interface, but both companies hope to show they are ready to take the plunge once the latter has been normalized by the work of the Serial ATA International Organization.
Unless a RAID configuration, traditional hard drives are now quite difficult to saturate SATA 2 interface, including 3 Gbps theoretical often correspond to 300 MB / s real, but the arrival of new technologies and democratization of the SSD (hard drives to flash memory) give reason to fear a significant increase in bandwidth requirements. With the SATA 3, which is not fully completed, AMD and Seagate claims a transfer rate of 589 peak MB / s, twice the possibilities offered by the previous standard.
7200 rpm is better and always go for it you can notice difference as each time you are not going to make your hard drive full of disk space which may increase time for access data and ultimately result in slow operating system and application..
