Build a HTPC on Dish Network

I am trying to build my first HTPC. I have two LCD TV at the home. Both will be placed separately. I have some doubts regarding the TV tuner card here. Can I use the card to broad cast TV on both the Television set. For this which tv tuner card will be best. And will it affect the broadcasting signal. Can a user independently view channels on both TV's.

Well a proper TV Tuner Card will do your work. Some latest TV tuner cards has an ability to connect to the set top box of you cable tv and then to the HTPC. According to me you will need a C2D processor for the same and a minimum 2GB RAM. You can buy a AVerMedia AVerTV PCI-Ex1 TV Tuner Card with a supportable graphic card. Then you will need a media center edition.

Re: Build a HTPC on Dish Network

I do not now weather it is possible or not. But if you connect you TV to the compute as dual monitor and then broadcast the channel then it might work. You will need a powerful TV Tuner card for the same. First the signal will be received by the TV tuner card and then it will be broadcast to the attached dual monitors. But I still fear that it will not work because of the hardware requirement.

You will need some splitters and dedicated hardware for the same. The more you can do is share a dual monitor on the network. I do not think this is possible. If you can buy a additional connection for the different tv then that might be possible. Contact your cable tv provider and ask that does the set top box has that option by which you can share a digital tv.
