Samsung LE40A656 as PC monitor/ HDTV

    Hello guys,

I'm in search to get a Samsung TV to connect to my PC, possibly a PS3, and a Logitech z-5500 surround system. The Tv that caught my eye was the A656,but scared about the lag/lipsync Issues, so I'd like anyone's opinion on whether the set-up would be useless for gaming or if it'd need some kind of Audio decoder to work properly. In addition I'm wondering if games will look terrible on a lower-than-native resolution

    Any help appreciated!

I think you can connect it with HDMI cable. I have hooked my computers up to both my 47" Philips and Samsung LN52A750 without any issues using both my i7 with HD4670 and my e8400 with both a HD2400 and a HD3870. The main reason I use ATI cards is the on card sound. But with all those combination I never had any problem with a poor pic and my main PC is connected to my 47" Philips with a 25' HDMI.One thing I will say is that print looks better on the Philips while everything else looks far better on the Sammy. The pic on the Sammy is just plain great playing 1080p material. I really hope you do get it figured out and once you do I am sure you will be very satisfied.

As for your computer check out the decently priced ATI 4670 512mb. For the price this graphics card is excellent.None native resolution will look pathetic on an LCD. Some handle it slightly better than others, but personally I would look at getting a better graphics card and running at 1080p.As far as PC monitors go the samsung is the best for this, they allow 1080p by vga. They allow ALL enhancement technology to be turned off giving a nice sharp desktop image, and over scan can easily be disabled.
