    EP45-UD3R to OC Q6600 W/ Stock Heatsink

    Hello there,

I just bought a new system CPU - Intel Q6600 G0 Stepping Mobo - GA-EP45-UD3.Now purchasing a heatsink, monitor, and OS. My 64-bit Windows 7 Beta is out, and it is working very well. I would like to OC using the stock Intel Heat sink to get a 3.0 ghz.I've reduced the Vcore from 1.325V to 1.25V and it has been stable running Prime95 so far. What voltage ballpark should I be looking at? What should I know about my cpu/memory divider?. I would like to try to lower the voltage further to determine a baseline to overclock off of, but I don't know how severe the repercussions would be if I lowered them too much. Currently running at 56-56-50-51 degrees under full load. I've set the PCI clock sync to 100 MHz, but are there any other options I should take off of auto and set to a fixed quantity?

    any thoughts??
    thanks.!!

Hello buddy you running your voltages on Auto 'er what.. I have created 2x so far, both run over 450mhz FSB with dual cores.. 1.31v MCH.. the sinks are not even warm to the touch Depending on what heatsink you have, you might need one that goes off to the side. I use a Thermalright HR-05 SLI. I have one on my NB and SB and they work great my UD3P, which has the same layout as the UD3R.

There would not be any sever repercussions from lower your Vcore until you hit a failure point. The system would just start failing tests or fail to boot is all.Well you should make performance enhance on standard, set your ram voltage, and then set MCH Voltage to 1.2-1.3 (1.22-1.26 likely good) and then overclock from there. And of course disable C1E and EIST..Configure your own Vtt (Termination), PLL, and Vcore. DO NOT USE Auto for those, especially Vtt and PLL as Auto way over volts them

Yeah, the cheap and basic UD3, not the R or P and I have to tell it's really amazing. Definitely lives up to the series and the 2 other boards. A lot of bios options, stable, great for OC. I did a pretty good OC for 24/7 use with my new E6300. And what's really good I didn't have to throw a lot of volts at my motherboard. With all due respect, thinking u could go higher then 3.6 on this mobo was a mistake. I mean, your old one is pretty bad for OC also, and getting more then 3.6 shouldn't be a problem on it as well. You just weren't lucky with the chip, 1.4v for 3.6 for a Quad is very average to say the least.
