Use a CD burner as DVD burner

Sponsored Links
Hi,
I want to know that is it possible to burn a DVD out a CD writer. Is this possible by any third party software. Means a DVD can create a CD but a CD cannot. This makes me a bit confused. What is technology behind this burning thing. And recently it was in the news that a Blu ray disc can handle upto 50GB data. What is reason behind that. Everyday technology changes but there is nothing done in downgrading part.

Re: Use a CD burner as DVD burner

Practically this is not possible. You cannot create a DVD out of a CD disc. Because DVD works on better and newer version of hardware. Here the old version can work with the new on but it is not possible the the newer version can use the old version technology. Today writable disc has become the most frequent and common way of data transfer. I will give you a explanation on how a CD is burned and data is added to the disc. A CD stores data in the form of Digital DATA. That means information stores in the form numbers. A series of ones and zeros. This number series are represented by million of tiny bumps and flat areas on the disc. If the bumps and flats are arranged one by one then will measure around 3.5 miles areas in length. A laser beam in the CD drive reads this thing. When the beams passes to the layer of a disc the bumps on it are reflected as ones and zeros. This is arranged in the form of spiral. In the same way the data is recorded on the disc.

HDVD 9 is the most recent growth in DVD's. It is the best choice. This is called as blue ray disc. By this technology you can add up to 25gb on a single layer and 50 gb on dual layer disc. To day Blu rays are usually used in gaming consoles to give a high definition environment. The Blu ray disc are created by Blue violet laser. And the normal disc are burned on red laser. The technology aims on giving maximum space on a small disc. The technology is still costly today but will take some time to get common.

Downgrading can become a serious issue in future. Because every day new products are launched between very short interval of time. For example the Playstation's new games. PS2 games are compatible with PS3 but PS3 gives problem in the same way. That is why the company launches a entirely new product instead of adding more numbers to the old hardware. And in your case it is impossible to create a DVD out of CD. There are many factors responsible for this. The most important on is hardware.
