Can Dell Inspiron 1200 Burn DVD's

Hi,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1200 Laptop. I want to add a DVD writer in my laptop to burn DVD's. I want to ask that weather I can add up a DVD writer in my laptop. Does it supports a DVD writer. I have already got a DVD combo drive in my laptop. If I want to upgrade then from where can I get the hardware and install a new DVD writer. What can be cost of it. Thanks anyway.

I don't think so that the laptop supports a DVD writer. The motherboard in it is 0X6088. This series board are designed to use CD RW or DVD ROM. You will have to call Dell and then ask for them to upgrade. The parts inside the laptop are branded. So you cannot put any part from shop and fix it. Just call Dell Customer Care and ask for update.

The best option for you is to use a external USB DVD writer. This external writer can be used in any system. Just install the driver and a burning software like nero and use it. It is compatible with most of the models. I will recommend you to use LG DVD writer. It is a great tool with very easy to user feature. It is thin tool which can be carried anywhere.
