Re: How to ReCalibrate the battery in laptop/macbook ?

For better performance, you should calibrate your iBook, PowerBook, MacBook, Notebook and computer's lithium ion battery.

The battery has an internal microprocessor that provides an estimate of the amount of energy in the battery as it charges and discharges. The battery needs to be recalibrated from time to time to keep the onscreen battery time and percent display accurate and to keep the battery operating at maximum efficiency.

Re: How to ReCalibrate the battery in laptop/macbook ?

When your laptop battery's life gets shorter over time, it is highly recommended to recalibrate your laptop's battery over time to time ...

Basically, the calibration process involves -
first turning off your screensaver and other power management settings that put the computer into sleep mode. Then fully charge the laptop before letting it run all the way down until the computer shuts off automatically.

Once the battery has fully drained, you can charge it back up again and restore your screensaver and power management settings.

NOTE - If calibration does not help or work for you, then you should purchase a new battery and replace the older one.

Re: How to ReCalibrate the battery in laptop/macbook ?

For Macbook users, follow these steps to calibrate your battery:

    • Plug in the power adapter and fully charge your PowerBook's battery until the light ring or LED on the power adapter plug changes to green and the onscreen meter in the menu bar indicates that the battery is fully charged.
    • Allow the battery to rest in the fully charged state for at least two hours. You may use your computer during this time as long as the adapter is plugged in.
    • Disconnect the power adapter while the computer still on and start running the computer off battery power. You may use your computer during this time. When your battery gets low, the low battery warning dialog appears on the screen.
    • At this point, save your work. Continue to use your computer; when the battery gets very low, the computer will automatically go to sleep.
    • Turn off the computer or allow it to sleep for five hours or more.
    • Connect the power adapter and leave it connected until the battery is fully charged again.

Re: How to ReCalibrate the battery in laptop/macbook ?

One of ways to re-calibrate your laptop battery is by using IBM Thinkpad Battery Maximizer in order to maximize your laptop battery's life.

    - With IBM ThinkPad Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management features installed in your laptop, it allows you to verify the condition of the laptop battery.
    - You can even check the status of your battery using the Battery MaxiMiser Gauge in the taskbar tray.
    - The ThinkPad's Lithium Ion battery pack that seems to be an intelligent battery uses a microprocessor to monitor its capacity. Then the microprocessor of the battery pack passes the information about the remaining battery capacity to the laptop.
    - The laptop indicates the capacity with high accuracy.
