How to Update Seagate Firmware Revision

Hi,

I am looking to buy the Seagate ST31500341AS drives (1.5 TB). Just wondering what the latest Seagate's Firmware Revision of this drive, so that I can check with reseller, when I purchase it . And how can I Update the Seagate Firmware Revision.

Seagate has vowed to fix all problems and is offering data recovery for anyone who may have lost data. To verify your drive model number, serial number, and firmware revision using the Drive Detect software, go to https://apps1.seagate.com/rms_af_srl_chk/. Firmware will increment the Event Log pointer past the end of the event log data structure.

They don't let end users flash firmware on consumer drives, only on the enterprise drives. Every drive family has a couple of firmware releases during the life of the product. Please check in regularly to determine if new firmware is available for your drive. And if you update Seagate Firmware Revision, make sure you have a backup of ALL data.

To update Seagate Firmware Revision, follow the steps below :

1. Download and install SeaTools Enterprise Edition.

2. Click START | PROGRAMS | SEATOOLS ENTERPRISE to run the program. It will SCAN any SCSI device(s) installed in the system.

3. Select the drive you would like to update.

4. If you double-click on the scanned model number it will provide you with your current Firmware Revision and Model Number. The Device Inquiry Box should also appear after double-clicking the scanned device.
