Re: Test A Power Supply And Components with Jump Start A Power Supply (PSU)

First check for your PSU connector that going to fix on your motherboard as that can be 24 pin or 20 pin connectors , Now look for Green wire and black wire
Location for green wire :
For 24 pin connectors - pin no 16
For 20 pin connectors - pin no 14

Now to calculate pin keep black clip of connector up and start counting from the bottom left corner of connector.

For 24 pin connector:

1-12 on bottom from left to right
13-24 on top from left to right

For 20 pin connector:
1-10 on bottom left to right.
11-20 on top left to right ,

In pin with green wire and black wire is the place that you will insert the jumper. For a jumper select solid wire or just paper clip.insert it between this two pin

Plug the power supply AC power cord directly into a wall outlet. check that its on.and as you turn on fan must start .

This procedure is involve 12VDC electrical voltage which may cause to electrical shock. Proper precautions must be taken

you can also test some computer hardware components

What you want to do exactly. If you want to repair your old power supply then the first option is you will have to find out what it the problem and then it cause. Usually many power supply happen due to inconvenient voltage supply or sudden shutdown of machine directly from the main switch. Some basic problem can be solved by disconnecting the cable and checking weather there is not broken link. De-soldering and soldering back the connection on the board of power supply. A better and simple solution is to change the power supply unit. Your system runs on 250 Watt power supply and it also not much costly also.

Something is wrong with your laptop. Remove the screws from the bottom, which opens the space where RAM is installed, remove the RAM and see there is no dust collected, if there is some dust, then just clean it off with a dry cloth. Now insert the RAM properly and check if it starts. All the best..
