File Missing in MyBook Hard Drive

I had purchased Western Digital Mybook last year. The size it provide is around 500GB. The problem is when I click on the driver to view my file it takes a long time to open and the folder in the drive look empty. The size of folder is showing the correct amount of data. My files have suddenly disappeared from it. How can I recover it back. What is the issue with mybook.

It looks like that your drive is not being read properly. That is why it takes long time to open it. Just check out the connection is proper. Check weather there is noise in the hard drive and it is not dead. Check the usb connection if possible try to change usb connection. Then user Recover My Files to run a Complete Format Recover. In the progress window you see the files. It will take a long time.

There can be a bad sector in your drive. May be due any third party tool or clean up utility the deletion took place. But do not worry. You data can be recovered. You need to get one recovery software for this. Here do not change anything. Just recover you data. Otherwise you will loss all your data. The other you will have to do that create a image file of your drive.

There are chances of virus problem on your hard drive. Scan you whole system and if virus is detected delete it. Try to restore your system to an earlier point. There are multiple virus which can erase your data without your information. If possible get ad-aware tool and scan your system. Then take a back up of your drive.
