    What stripe size should I use in Raid 5 array

    What stripe size should I use in Raid 5 array for best performance? Well i do not have very good understanding at stripe size, so would like to know about it.. i have 4x500GB hard disk on my file server which i want to use to serve my XP clients for multimedia files like audios, videos and images. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance...

    What block size have you kept? I think 16kb or 32kb would be the best for performance... Also use Chunk size 4 kB, this will help too...

    Well accoring to the chunk size and block size, use 128kb as stripe size for best performance. and only about 4% of the total space will be wasted. If you have SCSI hard disks, no questions about performance...

    Even if you have Sata hard disk, you will get full speed of 3Gb/s with the the above setup. Hopw this helps you...
