I'm down to choosing one of these two. For all around use which would you recommend.

I would suggest to go for the Liteon, even thought the Sony is re-branded, some people says that the Sony use poorer quality parts, but this not the case ,but its better to go for the Lite-On as personally i dont have any problem with it.
Actually both are good as per my knowledge but i'll recommend you Sony Optiarc AD-7241S-0B, coz i have it on my own system and by my experience i can say that it works really awesome, speed is too good, you should just go with it. and over Liteon i'll always choose sony products.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (3.6GHz, 1.44v) with TR Ultra 120E,
Gigabyte GA-EX38-DQ6 v1.1, 4GB G.Skill PI 1066 5-5-5-15 2.1v ,
Powercolor ATI HD4870X2 2GB, 4x SATA2 500GB Samsung HDD RAID 10,
Creative X-Fi, Dell 2408WFP A01 24" LCD,
Acer P221w 22" LCD,
Corsair HX-1000 Watt PSU,
Vista 64-bit.
Hey I am using Sony so in my opinion its a good choice & Lite-on is a also a nice product, I have heard a lot about it bud not experienced. SO you can choose anyone of them. Both are equally good I think.
The BenQ E2200HD is also good choice. It support 10,000:1 contrast ratio, 2ms response speed and AMA(Advanced Motion Accelerator technologies, this 16:9 full HD monitor adopts a version 1.3 HDMI, three USB ports and D-sub/DVI ports.
