    HI,

I have a lenovo y 410 notebook which has an "optiarc dvd rw ad7640a" drive preinstalled to it. As the drive doesnt function any more and as the warranty has also expired for my product I want to replace it with any other brand.

Can anybody seggest any alternaive for this and wheather any other drive i replace will be compatible with my notebook or not .

    Thanks and regards

There are many good brands of DVD RW like Sony, Lite-ON, LG, Samsung, Asus, etc. Just choose which one do you need. I personally use a Samsung 20x Ide/ Sata Dvd Writer which is also best in bucks.

The hardware compatibility for a DVD writer will only relate to its sizing and its cabling styles. You can get your old DVD writer, or perhaps your whole laptop to the shop/dealer and ask for the similar DVD writer for it.

If there is any special case or condition for using DVD writer for this Lenovo Y410 notebook, then I must say that you shall get better support on the Lenovo's forum itself. http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/
