Acer Crystal Eye webcam does not work

I have an Acer 7520G notebook.
    Webcam: Acer Crystal Eye

The webcam is also used as such immediately recognized. Only one wants to in the Multimedia settings times a test picture, the following messages.

    1.) Video for Linux (v4l)
    Acer Crystal Eye webcam
    v4lsrc device = "/dev/video0"

Error message: Video for Linux (v4l): Could not the settings from the resource to read or write into the resource.

    2.) Video for Linux 2 (v4l2)
    Acer Crystal Eye webcam
    v4l2src device = "/dev/video0"

Error message: Video for Linux 2 (v4l2): Device '/dev/video0' can not capture at 640x480.

Hope it me who can give a tip. Because if the camera is ever detected, can not be a mega-problem.

Re: Acer Crystal Eye webcam does not work

    Hi,

I have also an Acer Aspire 7520 notebook and therefore the same problem with the builtin webcam. Apparently there is no kernel module for this cam.

usbview lsusb and find the device is physically, but it can not be addressed.

Therefore, unfortunately, no /dev/ video [0-x] is assigned.

We might have to wait until the webcam "old" and newer kernel detected.

The laptop and the hardware is installed anyway fairly new, the established WLAN Atheros PCIe card works only at 64 (2.6.23.12) kernel with ndiswrapper. Under 32bit so far without success.
The subwoofer is not addressed, the "nVidia Corporation MCP67 High Definition Audio" sound card is probably still too new.

So we wait patiently for Linux is not all that bad! Since it is just developing ....

    Try to reset cam :
    • Unplug your cam
    • modprobe-r uvcvideo
    • modprobe-r snd_usb_audio
    • replug your cam

(not sure if step 1 and 4 are really necessary, or if 2 and 3 would be sufficient

Upgrading the driver probably solve your issue.

Give the result of the mandate:

    Code:
    lsusb

    and

    Code:
    lspci -nn

to see if there is any indication.
