Connecting Usb Flash Drive in Playstation 3 to watch movie

Hello,
I recently bought a PS3 and saw that it was having a USB Port in it. So I thought of connecting my USB Flash Drive in it and watching some movies. But the problem is the screen of my tv displays "No title" as soon as I connect my Flash drive and try to play the movie. Well, so I was told that the movie, in avi format, cannot be played or supported by PS3 and so I look on the forums how to convert them. I then download PS3 Video 9 and converted my movie (MPEG-4). I transfered my converted movie on my PS3, and there, still I can see no title. Its weight is 550 MB. Can anyone help me out for this problem now. Thank you

I do not know if it can help you but personally, I have an external hard drive with fat file system and it works very well on the PS3 and I store data and watch movie from it.

Yes, the hard drive has to be formatted in Fat32 (cause not all Fat32 is the same, so it's best to let it in the ps3 format)

there is not password or encryption done on the hard drive, and the movies aren't on some secondary, secured partition

the movies are in a ps3-compatible format (and codec). To avoid confusing yourself unnecessarily, learn the difference between formats and codecs.

If your pc and ps3 are on a LAN, you can also use media streaming to do the same thing. You'll get perfect performance from a usb cable, though. Even a blu-ray movie won't exceed 280Mbps.

You can hook the flash drive up to the computer, and open it up then find the movie on the flash drive and it tells you to just look under the file, if it doesn't place the mouse over it, you will see a white box look for the file type.
