Computer shuts down while burning cd or dvd

Hi,
I was trying to burn DVD with Nero. But whenever i start burning, computer shuts down automatically. the same thing happens when i try to burn CD. Is there anything wrong with writer? What should i do now?

You can try other programs like Alcohol, Imgburn, etc. It still sounds like a heat issue to me. Try running a different CPU intensive program like Prime95 or some such and see if that makes it fail.

Run CHKDSK, it restores missing files. If your running Xp place the recovery cd into the tray. In windows vista enter "sfc /scannow" into the run commands, it will scan replacing any missing or corrupt system files back onto your computer.

Burning is very CPU intensive and generate lots of heat. You could have a shortage of ram, overheating, or a combination of both. It shuts down because of overheating. You might check Nero to see if there is a box checked that says shut down computer when complete.

hey had this same problem and i am happy to see i finally fixed it. all i did was uninstalled drivers for the gfx card (chipset in this laptop i was having the problem with) and reinstalled the chipset drivers for this laptops onboard gfx card. and have not had this problem again
