I'do like to know, at the level graphics card, the difference between a 512 DDR3 and a 512 DDR5, if things change , and if a 1GB DDR3 is better than 512DDR5 , thank you.

What brand is your card? Because there are differences ....
New Nvidia and Ati will be equipped with DDR5 in 40nm and not 45nm and probably bear a DX11 hardware.
I do not know too much for the graphic card but DDR3 consumes less than DDR2, the first card of 1GB of GDDR5, supporting a bandwidth of 20Gib / s on a 32-bit bus, allowing memory configurations of 1GB a 160Gib / s with only 8 circuits on a 256 bit bus.
In short, it is very technical and depends on what we do with .....
best regards
According to the testers there would be a simple rule: a memory twice as fast with twice the bus is less broadly equivalent.
I do not know how much is the fastest Gddr5 compared to GDDR3, but it is on Google or tests graphic card . We must take into account the bus too. Bus widths graphic card : 64128256 for example.
For the amount of memory is 1gb interesting powerful cards (from HD 4870) and even essential for some cards to do SLI or cross fire (several cards together).
Give us the links of your products.
On the net is there no test for this type of cards?
Thank you for giving me your lights, but I have still not entered. This is the card I have in this moment: HIS HD4870 512MB, PCI-E, 4000/780MHz, DDR5
2x DVI, TV-Out, Retail
Is that it is better than a ATI HD 4650 600M XFX 1GB, PCI-E 800/600MHz, DDR3
DVI, S-Video out
for example?
The use is mainly for games ... Thank you.
The HD 4870 is incomparably better than 4650. This has nothing to do. Just look at prices.
I thought you were talking about two cards of equivalent price.
The difference between the ATI is the number of scalar processing units. And 4870 have much more than the 4650.
From what I understand the magnitude is: 4650-4670-4850-4870-4850X2-4870X2
What about the Asus Nvidia gtx 260 896mb DDR3 or an ATI Radeon 4870 512mb DDR5. I can get either for the same price, 274.95 canadian dollars. Add a 40$ for the ATI 4870 to be 1GB.
Im looking to do nothing else but gaming. Which to choose? Im looking to buy an i7 on a ASUS p6t deluxe. I need something good to tag along. You think i better stick with asus chipsets for the video card too same as motherboard or thats irrelevant?
Thanks for any replies
