Unable to access the USB devices

    Hi all!

I reinstalled windows XP there's no time and I do not know if my problem was today or if it is present from the beginning.

I plugged in a USB key / my phone or even a USB disk. The device is installed correctly. I see the letter assigned to it in the USB devices icon.

Can not see removable drives in Windows Explorer.
By a "dir e:" in a command prompt, windows is capable of me list the contents of the directory of my removable disk!!

To access my removable drive I have to do the following:
Right click on "My Computer" => "Manage" => "Disk Management"
Right click on "E: Removable Disk" and "Open"

If I make an "Explorer", the window listing the contents of my removable disk opens, then returns to the job immediately ... I have to go through an "Open".

Once in the removable disk is the same thing, double click or "Explorer" in a folder brings me back to the job after me stealthily posted the contents of the folder, I am once again forced to an "Open"!

Someone would have an idea about the problem?

    THANK YOU !!!!! I

    Hello,

Have you tried to change the letter of the removable disk using the Disk Management?

Or to change the USB port to see history?

Re: Unable to access the USB devices

Anyway, I just had a problem with a hard drive plugged into a Vantec Hard Drive Docking station that was plugged into a USB port. Again, the hard drive was present in Device Manager under Disk Drives, and USB mass storage controller.

I was able to enable this hard drive by re-assigning a new Drive Letter to the drive:

Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management / Storage / Disk Management
