Power supply for small personal server

I want to consolidate my data on one machine, I'm mounting a small server. My problem lies in the choice of power supply. I'm going to have 14 hard disks (5 x 80 GB IDE RAID 5 for the system and some data, 1 x 80 GB and 2 x 160GB IDE for data + 1 x 80 GB SATA, 2 x 160 GB SATA , 2 x 500 GB, 1 x 320GB SATA for data as well) ready 320 W shot the 5V. I do not see how to get this done.

Since you are using 14 hard drives, I suppose you should go for Corsair CX400 400W Power supply.

1 hard drive is 10W max at startup, there is a lot actually 320W.

I understand that you want to recycle some of HDD, however, with recent large capacity you would have better performance (even compared to Raid IDE) and to have better reliability because:

    1. fewer disks
    2. disks of more than 2-3 years is their failure rate explode after that time.

Above all that, a 500GB hdd ca costs almost nothing now. And if it is to replace old 4 you will win in terms of electricity bill, especially if a server is turned on almost all the time.

For info, a little hdd draws on the 5V line, only for the electronics, must not exceed 2W by hdd in charge. Especially on the 12V that consumption is highest as it is one that is used for engines.

Thank you for your lights samar; Indeed you're right and I know that new disks larger capacity would be welcome, now that the problem of cost (finance are falling at the moment) I had more the opportunity to lose data on "large" disks (250 GB and 320 GB) I prefer to disperse them on disks smaller capacity.

Howitzer missing 2 molex connector on the power supply that you offer me

If you lack the molex, you can simply put Y cables.
