Canon Pixma IP4xxx: B & W printing with only black cartridge

Is there a driver setting or third party software (like Epson) to print photos using the black cartridges for the printer?

Until the iP4500, it was enough to check "Grayscale" and select "plain paper" and "high quality". I have read that from the iP4600, the pilot is no longer the same, therefore I do not know.

I do not understand your question:

- You want to print in grayscale with a color cartridge empty? If that's impossible, when a cartridge is empty you have a message, and when it is totally it hangs, if a software existed it would be nice, and it would avoid having to reset the chips.

- Or print grayscale photo quality? if that's possible at least on my iP4500, once you're on grayscale only the large black cartridge (pigmented) is used.

Thank you it works Howitzer! Too bad we can not choose another type of paper and that the screening is so important on the highlights, but overall it is not only good but rather that adding a more distinctive silver grain very interesting.

IP4500 on me I just try, I can be in grayscale, high quality and choose any type of photo paper. It is just the matter of profile, where you are?
