SATA Hard Drive failed during Vista installation

    hello

Everything happened when I was trying to upgrade my operating system with windows VISTA. I don’t know how but my hard drive died suddenly and windows Vista won't boot now. Interestingly, when I pop the drive into an external enclosure, and turn it on inside of windows VISTA, it causes the computer to crash, and reboot. I spent some time searching forums for some help, but figured nothing.

Please help me regarding this problem
    Any help will be appreciated.

It could be bad sectors / damage to partition table or file system structure in such away that it will hang the system. I suggest downloading manufacture disk drive test or you can try the partition repair/data recovery software by “Salvage Data Recovery Lab Inc”. You can find it easily if you just run a search in google it’s name… Instructions are clear while installing. Connect your drive as secondary drive on the system (not external) / or even primary and let that software run. That at least will let you know if drive is ok.

These errors occur for different reasons, depending on which application you are installing. This document contains solutions that might work for all applications, but if there are links in this document to the application you are trying to install, follow those links before you try the steps in this document.

Possible reasons for these errors include, but are not limited to:
You may have insufficient disk space on the drive that you are installing to.
Your virus protection or firewall software might have invalidated the installation.
You have fonts that are locked.
You removed a CS3 pre-release version or the beta version of Photoshop by moving the application to the trash, rather than using the uninstaller.
You have left over files from a previous installation.

Solution 1: Run the CS3Clean Script.

The CS3Clean Script was originally designed to clean up beta installations of all products within the Adobe Creative Suite 3. The CS3Clean Script has been updated from its original version to repair registry entries and permissions. For more information, see "Using the new CS3Clean Script" (TechNote kb402767).
Download and start the Adobe CS3Clean Script.
Download the Adobe CS3Clean Script for Macintosh.

Note: The disk image should automatically mount. If it doesn't mount, then double-click MacCS3Clean.dmg.

Double-click on the MacCS3Clean folder to open the directory.
Double-click on CS3Clean. You will be prompted to enter your password (like an installer it needs administrator privileges) and will then begin running.
Follow the on-screen prompt to complete the script.
Choose your language by entering e for English or j for Japanese. It does not matter if you use lower case or upper case letters anywhere in the script.
Review the Adobe End-user License Agreement and enter y to Accept or n to Decline. Declining will exit the Script.
Acknowledge that you do not wish to exit to uninstall or back up your data by entering n.
Choose cleaning level by entering 2 or 3. It is recommended that you use Level 2 the first time, and use Level 3 only if you cannot install after running Level 2.
Level 2 will remove all CS3 program files. It will also clean the registry of any CS3 applications.
Level 3 will remove all CS3 and shared components. It will also clean the registry of any CS3 settings.

If you have installed to any custom locations, enter y and on the next screen enter the custom locations.
If you wish to preview what the Script will do, enter y.

You will need to run the script again after the preview to do the actual cleaning by starting over at step 3 in these instructions.
If you wish to backup your registry, enter y.
The next screen shows the options you have chosen. Review your selections, then type GO to begin the clean.
If you wish to change any of your selections, type quit and start over at step 3 in these instructions.
After the script has finished running, Return to exit. If you were running a preview, then restart at step 3 to proceed with the cleaning.
    Restart your system.

Running the installation in a clean user environment eliminates a number of the common elements that can prevent installation issues. Unfortunately performing the following steps together does prevent you for determine which solution providing the solution. You can perform one step at a time to attempt to isolate the cause of the installation issue.
Create a new administrator account. Refer to the, "Creating a new user account" section for additional information.
Restart the machine in Safe Boot. Refer to the, "Logging into Safe Boot" section for additional information.
At the logon screen, log into the new administrator account.
Run Disk First Aid on the installation drive. Refer to the, "First Aid" section for additional information.
Create a desktop installation point. Refer to the, "Create a desktop installation point" section for additional information.
Remove all of the the current installation logs by deleting all of the .gz files from /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers.

Re: SATA Hard Drive failed during Vista installation

Virus-protection software exists to stop errant applications from installing on your system. If your virus-protection software believes your Adobe application is a virus, it will affect the installation, and the product will not be installed correctly. If you haven't turned your virus-protection software off before you installed, uninstall your Adobe product, disable your virus-protection software and firewall, and reinstall.

Additionally, you might experience a conflict between the Apple Bonjour service and McAfee virus-protection software. If you are running McAfee software, then disable it before you begin the installation. If the installation still produces errors, then uninstall the McAfee software, and then install the Suite or point product. If the Suite installation is successful, then reinstall your McAfee software.

The Version Cue installer installs a service called Bonjour, which searches the network for other Bonjour-enabled machines. If your firewall is unaware of this protocol and blocks it, then installation can fail. Turning off your firewall while installing prevents this from occurring.
