Need help reinstalling sound card

I Had to format my pc, due to a nasty virus, I had to have my hard drive wiped clean. after I reinstalled windows xp I have no sound on my computer now, The wizard always comes up and says found new hardware but can't find the multimedia audio controller. can anyone tell me how to do this ?

You know the model of your sound card ? if you do know, just type the name at google search and download the driver. if you don't, find your computer manual book.

your pc might be infected with virus, I recommend symantec antivirus.
Remove the viruses and see if the sound works or not. and If you deleted the sound card and uninstalled it, the only way to get it back is to call your engineer. And let him fix it for you.

If you had to wipe your disk and you reinstalled you'll need to download the sound drivers from the manufacturer website and install them again. After the installation of drivers the sound should be working perfectly.

You need to reinstall your sound drivers for the motherboard you are using if its onboard sound, if you have a add-on sound card then go to that manufacture and get the sound drivers.
