How to Connect Xbox 360 to Computer Monitor ?

Hello , I Have an Xbox 360 It Work Fine Complete and i want to use the my 25 inch Computer Monitor . Is there any easy way to make this happen? alternately i have an Wii which has a 480i resolution with the supplied composite cables. It can reach 480p with available component cables. I believe aftermarket S-video cables are also available.I was thinking of buying a USB TV tuner with composite (or other) inputs. Would the USB connection provide fast enough throughput for fluid gaming? What would the video quality be like with Wii’s maximum 480p resolution on a 1920x1200 monitor? Does anybody make aftermarket cables for a direct DVI connection?Have any of you done this? How about the Xbox? Is the picture quality worth the hassle? Any specific hardware recommendations? and finally please tell How to Set it Up. All experiences are welcome.Thank you in advance for your help!

The easiest way is to get a video capture card for a desktop pc, or if you can find one with rca input, a laptop capture card. You can also get a modulator box that would not even require a pc, but, those can be very expensive for general quality. An even easier way is to buy the xbox 360 vga cable which can probably be bought for about fifteen bucks and have the xbox 360 hooked up directly to the moniter.

Hello ,Here's an answer to a similar question. It's about a composite AV to VGA lead.It might be quite pricey (£24.99), but it can't fit a tv in room, so this saves money in that sense. Anyway, here's the useful answer "When you buy the VGA cable to connect to your monitor, it will have the VGA plug plus separate RCA jacks, red and white respectively, for your audio. That would be the one to go into your speakers. If your speaker doesn't support RCA jacks but it has a mini plug (3.5mm) for the input, which is the plug on most audio devices, the VGA kit includes a RCA Female -> Mini Male plug. If your speakers is hardwired to have a mini plug with the cable, then you have to buy a female to female mini plug converter.

As long as your computer monitor has at least one VGA connection, you'll need to things to have a great Xbox 360 gaming experience. First you need an Xbox 360 VGA cable. Microsoft makes the Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable, which sells for about $40. There are also 3rd-party Xbox VGA cables for about $20. Ideally if your computer screen has two inputs, you can leave your computer connected to one, connect the Xbox 360 to the other, and then simply switch to the one you need. The other thing you need is a stereo female RCA to mini-plug adapter, for connecting the audio out on your Xbox 360 to your computer speakers. If you have computer speakers with support for ToS Link you can use that for audio instead.

Re: How to Connect Xbox 360 to Computer Monitor ?

If you have an Xbox 360 then the greatest advantage is the ability to connect it to your computer monitor or to the existing home network. Once you have connected your Xbox 360 you can easily view music files and pictures that are stored in any computer using Microsoft Windows Media connect software. Apart from this if your computer runs Windows Media Center Edition then you can also play, replay, pause and record Live TV broadcasts and watch the recorded TV shows apart from enjoying home videos.

If you want to connect your Xbox to your computer then you will need a VGA input. This input is the Xbox 360 VGA HD AV cable and you can get this cable with a DV-15S Standard VGA connector along with a shielded cable that is around 8 feet long. This cable connector lets you enjoy high definition of games and movies that have a resolution of nearly 1080p. Apart from this it would also support 720p and 480p resolution. The cable also supports 5.1 Dolby digital surround sound outputs.
Connecting Xbox 360 to Windows XP Based Computer

However, the first thing that you should do in order to connect your Xbox 360 console to your computer is to download the Xbox 360 connectivity software that is offered by the Microsoft website. Once you have installed the software then you should follow a few steps that would depend on your windows version. After you have downloaded and run the software package from the web, the installation program would by itself organize and authorize the Xbox 360 console. You can either reconnect your Xbox 360 console or you can connect an additional Xbox 360 console to a computer that runs windows XP.

    • According to the Xbox guide on the Xbox 360 console open the Media section and then select Pictures or Music.
    • Then select computers in order to connect it to your windows based computer.
    • You would be then prompted to install the windows media connect software to the computer with windows XP. If you have installed the software then just select yes and continue with the connection.
    • Then just select the windows based computer to connect to the 360 consoles and then just press ‘A' to complete the connection.
    • Then on the computer with windows XP just click start and go to the control panel.
    • Then click on windows connect or click speech, sound and audio device and then click the windows media connect.
    • Then just click device and then select your Xbox 360 to be connected.
    • If your connection shows denied in red then select and allow authorizing the Xbox 360 console.

After all the files are downloaded and set atop your computer you can add or remove other Xbox console to your home network with the help of Media Center Extender Manager. In order to do this you just have to open the Media Center Extender Manage and then on the file menu just click add new Xbox 360 console. You then have to follow the on screen instruction to complete your installation.

Re: How to Connect Xbox 360 to Computer Monitor ?

Hellom most modern computer monitors with VGA input are compatible with the Xbox 360. Accomplishing this task requires one additional purchase: a VGA cable for your Xbox console. The Xbox 360 VGA HD AV cable is an official product from Microsoft that should be all you need to hook your Xbox 360 up to your monitor. In addition to the cable itself, this package also includes a male/female converter for the VGA end, and a Y-adapter to convert the red/white audio into a single pin that fits into the audio line-in jack on the back of a computer.

    Display Quality
Customer comments for this product on Amazon note that the picture may appear washed out on some displays, but claim this can be solved by recalibrating the display for optimal picture quality.

    Apple Cinema Display Difficulties
This cable will not work directly with an Apple Cinema Display. You may be able to get some mileage from VGA/DVI converters, however I cannot offer any first-hand experience on this issue. If any readers have hacked together a solution for hooking an Xbox 360 up to an ACD, feel free to share.
