    Hard drive crash

    Hello,
I had an old PII 350MHz and the hard drive crashed yesterday before I could transfer my data to my new PC. It does boot on the disc and the sound of pan! So I started with another hard drive I had and on which there is windows2000.

The problem is that the disc appears damaged in the Bios (Maxtor) but said "0 MB". I can not see it in windows

An idea so that I may access and retrieve my data ? thank you in advance

I see no way to recover data on a data drive that does more ... some firms may be able but I understand that it costs huge money. 1 Moreover, the Maxtor has a reputation of never take a long time. You can try to put through an external box external hard drive but it is not guaranteed that its going to work.

in the same I believe that this is a contradiction that you said you said that the Maxtor never lasts very long, but our friend has a PC with a P2 .. a what I know is not of primary youth. Maxtor's time was a very good brand name which is no longer the case now. Try to connect as a slave in your new machine you'll see little if you make something.

Thank you all for your answers

The data drive intermittent beep when you start the computer then sizzles on an ongoing basis. there is no noise of slamming, or mechanical friction. this is enough power in any case there it looks.

    you have an idea?
