Error : Bad Direct Sound Driver

hi,
my Winamp refuses to play music. This error message appears on: "Bad Direct Sound Driver: Install the correct drivers or select another device in configuration. Error code: 8878000A". i have windows xp Service Pack 2.What has happened and what is the solution?Can anyone help!!!

• Roll the driver back to it's previous version
• Right-click on 'My Computer' and choose 'Properties'
• Click the 'Hardware' tab
• Click on 'Device Manager'
• Find 'Sound, video and game controllers' and click the plus sign next to it to expand it
• Find your sound card and double-click it, this will bring up it's Properties
• Click the 'Driver' tab
• Click on the 'Roll Back Driver' button. If there is a driver backed up for your device it will roll back to that driver, otherwise a message tells you that 'No driver files have been backed up for this device'.
• If there is not a backed up driver for your sound card you may want to just click the 'Uninstall' button to completely remove the current driver that is giving you problems.
• Install the latest driver from your sound card manufacturer's website
• Find the manufacturers website and look for a drivers/downloads area
• Download the most recent driver available for your sound card
• Follow the instructions from your manufacturer as to how to install the new driver
• Reboot your computer to make sure it loads the new driver
• Try to play your MP3 or other audio file in Winamp

go to the start menu then CLICK RUN. in the box services.screen will pop up. then scroll down to the window audio click on it. CLICK START to turn it on. this will slove the problem.

Go to creatives site and they should have an Windows XP update to your driver for the Creative AudioPCI card. Before I updated my SoundBlaster Live it acted crazy. After I updated it was fine. I doubt you have to reinstall directX cause that comes with XP.
