A PC Microphone with an X-box 360 Controller

I recently got to know that there is an availability of a 2.5mm port on the controller.
I tried to use a standard PC headset of 2 x 3.5 mm for my X-box 360,
I also have the audio sorted out as i connect my X-box 360 to my monitor using HDMI controller and is able to listen to the sound through the audio port.
The problem I want to ask is; Is it possible to connect the 3.5mm mic lead to the X-box 360?
Are there any adaptors?

No I don't thinkso, you need to use the Xbox 360 mic. If you want one with better quality audio output for voice chat etc. I'd recommend the wireless headset which is around £35. Compared to the standard wired headset which sounds shite, it's very good. Highly recommended.

Yes, IF you're using the wired Xbox 360 controller. The wireless version
will not work on a PC, but with the wired controller you can plug in the
headset, original Xbox headset, or any small 2.5mm headset (cell phone size)
and it will detect as a USB headset in Windows, so you can use the
microphone to voice-chat online. If you have a wired Xbox 360 controller,
you can get the PC drivers via Windows or Microsoft Update after plugging it
in.
