    ThumbsUp Western Digital/Seagate 500 GB SATA2 HDD

I'm planning to buy a 500 GB SATA2 HDD tomorrow. I'm confused between Western Digital & Seagate.

I need reliability & good after-sales-support. I usually use my Home PC for 16 hours daily which includes browsing and and for office applications.

So which brand should I go for ?

Please give me a unbiased opinion.

I would go for Raptor Hard drives if price is not on the count for you which works at 10000 rpm.

Go for Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3500630AS hard drive. It has superb performance, efficiency, speed and durability for all your application needs.

The SeaCare centers provide more responsive after-sales services, ease of access to warranty support and disc drive replacement to end-users in India. The centers are manned by Seagate trained staff and offer support consistently across the country to provide an overall enhanced customer experience. With an enhanced service network, Seagate is more easily accessible to its users from the smaller cities.

Forget Western Digital, I have had 3 of them and they stink!

I had tons of pics and Music on mine when I cam back from Germany and it crashed! Computer kept telling me need to format drive (and we know what that will do)!

Western Digital replaced it (doesn't help the lost files), but shortly thereafter it happened again! They refuse to respond now!

I'm doing some research on Seagate and that may be the way to go!

How much did it cost you? It is only 16MB cache rather than 32MB cache. But then, it is Sata-3 that is good. But I still wonder when the Sata-3 was developed! I was only knowing upto Sata-2 which was with 300 MB/s data transfer rate. What would be Sata-3 then !!?
