External USB 2.0 hard drive is not detected

Hi,

I already have problem with windows vista, now it does not detect my External USB 2.0 hard drive. I must then turn the disk so that they will be recognized. Now it is happening almost every day and I had no idea why. Thanks in advance.

P.S i have Western digital External hard drive

Here's a little process you can try to clean-up any old USB drivers that might be getting in the way. Be sure to follow all the steps exactly.
Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot twice.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

its probably a board problem try the back connectors instead or use an external power supply for the hard disk. some boards cant supply enough amps on the for front panel usb.

This issue occurs if the AHCI driver (Msahci.sys) in Windows Vista is disabled. This driver must be enabled before you change the SATA mode of the boot drive. for more details go to this link v
