i have Win XP ,In- built speakers are still on when I plug in headphones ?
Make sure the headphones are in a headphone socket, not line out, and apart from that i am unsure as to what could cause the problem - some more info would have helped, like what headphones.
Hi,
you have not mentioned your problem properly or otherwise I am not able to understand it properly, with which headphones speaker you have problem, does any kind of voice comes out of it or there is no voice? Or your any portable device headphone is not working, please be specific to your Problem.
Regards,
headphones are in right sockets.. they are working
I would really appreciate an explanation for a dummy (me he he) so as to be able to turn off my computer in built speakers when I have my headset on.
The headphones/external speakers jack socket has a switch to exclude the audio from the internal speakers, when a jack plug is connected. This is a very simple device and is not software controlled.
If it does not mute when you insert headphones, all you can do is trying to play with the jack plug, inserting and pulling it out. If this does not unlock the switch, the alternative is having the jack socket replaced by a technician. This is generally an expensive repair, as the socket is soldered on motherboard.
A cheap alternative to a proper repair is using an external USB to Audio Adapter and mute the internal audio card when using headphones.
Meanwhile, have a look at this similar kinda discussion headphones and external speakers donot turnoff inbuilt speakers
When I plug my headphones, sound from my speakers become quiet but my in- built speakers play the sound. ..so whats the problem?? Please help
