Hi,
I have an sata hard drive to 1TB (1000GB) SATA 2 and I want free software for this disc:
1 For partitioned into 2
2- To quantify (ie, protected by password 1) a partition

Please help me friends

For the partition you need to download G-Parted GParted is the Gnome Partition Editor application, which is excellent.

For encryption ,I do not know, more should be a system of encryption standard readable by all operating systems (unless the disk is only used on one PC).

Thank you, I could partition my external dd 32 fat as I wanted. thank you. My second problem was not resolved. please provide a solution for protected by a password partition on my external dd.

You need a truecrypt, you can download it from the official site, it encrypt the entire hard disk so when a thief tried to get access to the device all windows will report is: the drive is unformated, do you want to format the drive to access it ?
Truecrypt is a free open source solution, allowing you to encrypt your hard drive with AES. You can unlock it on demand and get a transparent access to the data though all data stays all the time fully encrypted on that drive.
