Your PC is trying to boot from the CD (to boot your system). Try when you start tapping (throughout the start-up) F12 or if it does not try to F8 (Safe mode) and last known good configuration. If it does not really works then with the installation CD, reinstall Windows ...
I have not given any orders in bios, its default. No change. When I press F8 to boot from the HDD, no change either. I do not have a Windows installation CD, since it is a Packard Bell with a hidden partition to restore.
I just have a recovery console CD (downloaded on the internet, this is not an installation CD) and a Knoppix Linux CD.
But I do not know what to do (I do not even have access to the Start menu)
At startup, repeat this by hitting buttons F5, F8, F12. This is often the keys that allow access to certain menu systems. You might make a system restore.
In my case, it is the F11 key to the hidden restore partition. I am having Packard Bell with Windows XP Home SP2.
System Restore failure
Partial restoration: runtime error '76' path not found
I feel that my restore partition is also corrupt.
That's why all these problems make me think of a virus ...
If only the data is concerned then use a Live-CD Linux (ubuntu for example) and a removable hard-disk. A clean installation will solve everything rather than a repair.
