Best Hard Drive Availability in the Market

    hello there.......
The question i have for all of you is i want to upgrade my hard drive......
so according to your opinion which hard drive is best for me ?
Is it Western Digital 500GB SATAII ?
    OR
    Is it Seagate 500GB 7200RPM SATAII ?

Please do recommended me if you know some other Hard drive company or you have different information about any other hard drive?

My Review on Western Digital 500GB SATAII:

    • Western Digital's line of Caviar GP have been considered by many as a value-graded hard drive because of it's completely affordable and cheap as compared to other hard drive company.
    • The Western Digital Caviar GP is actually designed for lower power consumption. Hence, the moniker GreenPower or GP. Western Digital claims these hard drives use 4-5 W less power than its competitors.
    • A 500 GB model was tested by a harware testing company and they were most impressed with its performance. It provided a large storage capacity using only two platters, it also delivered very good performance numbers. The noticing feature is it had the same platter-to-buffer transfer rates as the more expensive enterprise-grade.

Check This out on Seagate 500GB SATAII:

The Barracuda® ES2 drive is perfect for high-capacity, 7200-RPM nearline storage where dollars/GB and watts/GB are primary metrics. It offers energy-saving PowerTrim features, internal data integrity protection, superior rotational vibration tolerance and a SATA 3.0-Gb/s interface.

Some of it's Salient Features is:

    1. Perpendicular recording technology for maximum capacity
    2. 24x7 operation and 1.2 M hrs. MTBF
    3. Dynamic power saving using Seagate PowerTrim™ technology
    4. Broad spectrum rotational vibration tolerance at 12.5 rads/s2
    5. Error recovery control - quick error resolution to prevent system timeouts
    6. Workload management to ensure operational reliability
    7. Quick and robust download with firmware security checks
    8. Write Same command for efficient RAID initialization
    9. Idle Read After Write data integrity checking
    10. 32-MB cache

    Have a Look on This:

Western Digital 500 GB Hard Drive

This Western Digital Caviar hard drive is part of their GreenPower series, hence the GP label. Viewing through Western Digital, the Caviar GP hard drives offer an average power saving of 4-5 watts over their competitors, a feat that they claim is equivalent to reducing CO2 emissions by 13.8 kg per year.

Western Digital has three different Caviar GP models with capacities of 500 GB, 750 GB and 1 TB. The model to be discussed here is the 500 GB model which uses two platters. The other two larger drives use 3 and 4 platters respectively.

Caviar GP hard drives support the following features :

IntelliPower - A fine-tuned balance of spin speed, transfer rate, and caching algorithms designed to deliver both significant power savings and solid performance. For each GreenPower drive model, WD may use a different, invariable RPM.

IntelliSeek - Calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise, and vibration.

IntelliPark - Delivers lower power consumption by automatically unloading the heads during idle to reduce aerodynamic drag.

Preemptive Wear Leveling (PWL) - Proactively monitors and prevents magnetic wear during high read/write duty cycle applications.

StableTrac - Secures the motor shaft at both ends to reduce system-induced vibration and stabilize platters for accurate tracking, during read and write operations

I would have been nice if the price was also listed alongside.
