Re: code 10 error for realtek AC'97 Audio

When I clean install Windows XP my realtek hd audio works good. But if there is a problem with my audio due to problems with windows, I cannot reinstall Realtek and get a code 10 error.

ASUS mBOARD M2A-VM Realtek came with the board. Audio is built in. I have Windows XP sp3. When I try to find a hardware problem the windows wants to install a PC device which will not install

Do the windows update through internet explorer and do a custom scan and when that is finished scanning take a look on the menu on the left side under hardware and also software and install everything there especially if it has anything to do with multimedia or sound.....

Worked for me a while ago....

mine is not working now, so I use autopatcher.
Please elaborate!! What is a custom scan? My microsoft updates on the internet don't work? See below under PS.
This has to do with installing realtek hd audio. I have Realtek HD Audio R 1.66 (2.32) version 5.10.0.5404 that needs to be reinstalled on my computer. It will not reinstall and I get a code 10 if I put it in ADD Hardware (Control Panel). The driver is not working properly. I have Windows XP sp3. But I have had it installed when I did a fresh or clean install of windows and then it worked properly, then. Apparently it was not completely uninstalled before I reinstalled it. How do I completely uninstall it so it can be reinstalled properly. I have a M2A-VM ASUS mother board but they can't really help me.

    Jim

PS This was the error message on microsoft updates: "Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site.

To use this site, you must be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later. "

I am running IE 7 and have never before had problems with microsoft updates.

I have WinXP with ASUS M2A-VM motherboard but this problem is epidemic. Check all the internet forum sites with this problem. I contacted ASUS and RealTek but no answer yet. Only thing I know to do is erase all program RealTek audio files and do a clean install with a different registry. I told ASUS to do not used Realtek audio anymore (boycott)and sent the ASUS letter to Realtek telling them the epidemic problem.

I am not ready to reinstall XP a 3rd time in 3 days so I will us my Creative sound card instead.

What is the exact issue that you are facing?? i mean that are you getting any kind of error message when you are using the sound and audio device ? have you tried installing the latest driver for the same?? you can try downloading High Definition Audio Device driver from the manufacturer site as well and see if it is helping.
