DVD writer read only Cd but not Dvd

I now have this problem for almost a week since the problem is that my dvd burner only recognizes CD's. it Works normally all the time but When I insert a DVD, it shows nothing. In my other DVD drive will DvD detected but only slowly and with occasional trailers loaded (In movies). The CD's can be read properly and running as normal Now I am pushing the issue only if the burner is broken or something is not right on the system ...any suggestion

set the burner on secondary Master.And the hdd on Primary Master.If you've only got 1 hdd and 1 burner.It may make a difference.

I think this might be hardware fault on your own PC.So you can

1. use your hardware on another pc if it work then it means yuor pc have some fault
   
2. take backup of windows reinstall windows and again if it work then your software may be faulty
   
3. and even after fresh installation of Windows it does not get detected the return your hardwareas under warranty

actually there is no problem with your burning software/OS/Drive there is problem regarding the firmware of your disk drive. Go to ur manufacturer`s website and download the latest firmware for your dirive and i am sure your problem will be solved.
