Showing the size of 185 x 410 x 490 mm with a weight not exceeding 5.3 kg, the GZ-X9 has a steel chassis and a plastic cover. 2 USB connectors, a FireWire port (optional) and the conventional audio connectors are on the front side. The cooling of components is also given to a 120 mm fan at the rear, another 120 mm is also available at the front of the case.
