How to connect Desktop PC to my laptop

I want to connect my Pc to laptop. but i don't know how to do that can anyone help me ?

install internet sharing on the laptop buy a "crossover" cat-5 cable (this is critical only a crossover cable will allow you to connect two PC's together)

GET a cross cable i.e network card to connet both system togerther and made both your laptop and the desktop on the same workgroup and share the two of them will connted
