Problem of sound card on ASUS motherboard

I'm in Windows XP with a Asus M2A-VM motherboard and sound card included in it. While working for a few months, in the meantime I re-installed Windows, I searched the Realtek audio driver on the ASUS site. So when I turn on the computer, the sound card works but a few minutes later nothing. It is no longer working. Under the Device Manager there is no anomaly reported. Can you tell me where this might come?

On the other hand, when re-installing Windows, I could not format the hard disk. This worries me. How to work around this obstacle?

May be a conflict between drivers? To format during the installation, you can delete the partition and create a new one in place, then you should format.

I had notice that we could remove the partition, but I have not thought of. So, it should at least allow me to install windows on a clean hard drive. For the sound card, I am concerned since there was no conflict announced and it worked for sometimes (about half an hour) when I started. I had the driver which was with the motherboard (the oldest one). So I disabled and uninstalled, then installed one that I downloaded from the Asus site. I wonder if it can not come from the sound card itself. I thought of a small virus or other malware but I checked everything and found nothing. Therefore, I will probably repeat the installation of Windows XP with my C drive formatted and hope to boot directly from the CD ROM.

This is where you need to download drivers for the onboard sound card!

    http://www.realtek.com/downloads/dow...n Audio Codecs

Otherwise, you should have at least SP2; SP3 is best.

Yes, I'm using SP2. I downloaded the drivers from Realtek but nothing changes. I do not think it comes from the sound card. Because it worked first and the malfunction occurs ten minutes after the start of windows.

Have you checked to see if by chance, if this option was checked in the driver: "Allow Windows to turn off this device to save power".

OK, I have decided to re-install Windows XP anyways, by formatting through re-partition.
