Hard drive partition inaccessible

I have a hard drive with 2 partitions to NTFS, one for Windows XP and the other in storage.

But my storage partition has become inaccessible, it makes me "disc damaged or illegible"

Someone knows how to fix this partition without formatting?

HDD: Seagate 120GB IDE

Thank you!

Re: Hard drive partition inaccessible

TestDisk home run to rebuild a partition on the fly or a soft copy to retrieve lost data to another disk space (GetDataBack ...)

Re: Hard drive partition inaccessible

Faced with the same problem, the 'chkdsk' allowed me to find the score "so-called damaged" and all my data:

Needless to buy software to try exotic and complicated stuff, especially, not to format!

Try this method:
  • Open a DOS window: Start / Run / cmd
  • Type: FSUTIL DIRTY QUERY F: (where F: is the drive in question)
  • If the answer is "The volume F: has integrity" will not be necessary to start the verification with CHKDSK. As against if you get the message "The volume F: not incorporate" we will have to start the verification.
  • In the latter case, to run the verification and repair the volume of your disk, type (still in the DOS window): CHKDSK F / F / R
  • The analysis will be done in 5 stages, it may take time (especially steps 4 and 5): 30 minutes at home to a partition of 200 GB
  • By the end of the 'check disk "window" automatic "opens itself: yay!
  • We can still verify that all is well: FSUTIL DIRTY QUERY F: and this time you should have the message "The volume F: has integrity"

For info, WIN XP SP3.
I think the problem occurred in the switch that stops the hard drive without having clicked on the green arrow "remove the device safely"
