SATA HDD does not get recognized with the SATA controller card

I bought a SATA HDD 250 GB with my friend. However my motherboard only supports ATA HDD, so I bought a SATA controller card with no name. The card is a simple model that offers just 2 internal SATA ports (no RAID or other ...).

Once the cards and drivers are installed, Windows XP sp3 do not recognizes it. As soon as I try to connect the SATA HDD on one or the other 2 ports, Windows does not respond. Yet the HDD is running. I tried another PCI slot, no success.

Are there any other connections to be made on a SATA HDD and SATA cable?

If the card is not compatible then Windows is not supposed to detect the hard drive. Once the hard drive is connected and Windows boots then it is up to you if you want other hard disks to be get connected or detected.

The HDD was connected. I even tried to install the card with or without connecting the hard drive. The HDD is already partitioned. Whatever be the scenario, the manager does not detect any drives for my new HDD.

Did you tried detecting your hard drive through BIOS? If it does then see to it that your card is properly placed and installed.

Hey, strange but I tried to detect the hdd from BIOS but the hdd can't be seen. I think either the card is faulty or the HDD.
