Recover data from dead hard disk drive

I bought a hard drives 2 weeks ago to store my data. I protected the disk with a password.

The problem is that after few days, the hard drive failed.

So I gaved it to computer repair shop and got my data recovered on a new hard drive. I opened the box and installed the disk on my PC.

Thank God, the data is visible (as before) but I am unable to copy them or open them. It says I do not have rights to see it both under my Windows and Mac.

I want to know how to recover my data?

I don't know about Mac but on Windows; boot in Safe Mode as Administrator (master/slave). Right click on the hard disk drive, select properties and then Security tab. Here you can check and modify the rights.

Ok, got it and the problem is resolved

In fact, recovering the hard drive was simply getting the rights to access the partition.
