From video camera to PC

Hello everyone.

I have a colleague who would like to have transferred 3 cassette tapes (think they are called mini-dv) from his video camera to a PC. I then promised him to help, but had to give up.

We have installed the video-editing programs, but no success. So we ran to Photo Care where the camera is purchased. They said that it required a firewire. That I can not fit. As far as I know is firewire helps only to transfer faster. If there is 5 minutes per tape or several hours yesterday fact is seen subordinate. Just it can be done.

We can transfer the images located on the SD card, but not from the cartridges. The computer writes something with the "camera not found "?!?!?!?!?

Is it true that it can not be done WITHOUT firewire???

The camera is Canon MVX 35i.

Hope someone can help, because I'd like to help my colleague.

Yes it takes the same time to transfer, as the number of minutes on the tape. neither more nor less.

I can with only a mini-USB connector set to a PC, see the video on the PC screen is taken from the video camera.
Then you're sure to be a firewire for?

Yes, it must be there to transfer your program on the PCs, and it takes 5 min. to put it into the PCs.

Found out.
It requires NO firewire at all.
