SATA Drive not recognized

Hi i am using an old computer with this motherboard. It clearly says it supports SATA II 3Gbps drives, and has 4 SATA ports.

I have purchased a new Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB SATA II drive.

I installed the ULi M1575 SATA driver that comes with my motherboard .

I fixed the SATA drive properly. but it didn't get detected, even after repeated attempts.

Even the BIOS raid utility is also unable detect the drive at all.

I don't think that it's a power related problem. as I deattached my working DVD-RW's power supply and fed it into the drive.

any idea about the problem

(Note: I have an IDE HDD which I boot from)
[OS: XP SP2, CPU: Intel 3.2GHz P4, Ram: 1GB DDR2 667, HDD1: IDE Seagate 80GB).

Do a fresh install of windows after adding the SATA drive and see weather it is detecting it or not.
