No sound with the Headphones

Hi, My friend having headphone plugged in front panel audio but there is no sound from CD's.
There is Xp installed! How can i fix his computer?

Can you give some more detail?
Do you have any sound from computer speakers?
If there is no sound then you must need to put a sound driver & see if this solves your problem!

Try connecting a pair of PC speaker to the sound port on the rear of the computer. If the speakers produce audio, then the headphones are bad. If no sound plays, then either the optical drive needs drivers or the sound card needs drivers.
