USB problems

Hello friends my problem is this: I have an infrared adapter for the mobile will inserted into the USB port. The first installation of the device was good but then format the computer and to re-install I get an error message at the end of the process: one of the devices connected to the system does not work! this is due to format the computer or has nothing to do? as what I fix? please someone can help me? thanks!:

Name of operating systems: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Updated the driver but it tells me that there is a newer version.
Installed so good but then I do not recognize the device! Tells me that there might be flaws because there were problems in the installation!
