My PC had an old 80gb hdd. I got new 300gb hddfor me connected it to my computer, but my computer is not showing the new HDD why? Its only old 80gb hard disk visible.

Try This:
Go to my computer, Right click & manage see what happens is there any messege displayed?

Well thats not going to solve it, I think i need to format the drive in Disk
Management, only then it will be visable.
Have you run setup in your system bios and initialized the drive? Is the drive identified correctly in your system bios? Do you have the proper jumper pin settings for your setup?
go back to bios
make sure you have the boot order correct
remove the old drive make sure new one is ide channel 1 or sata channel 1
boot again if it boots yer ok
add the old drive boot again
depending on how you loaded OS
you may have kept the old drive as active boot and it is going bad
the above will check to see if you install the new drive right
no boot install again without old drive in machine
is this ide or sata or both??

Thanks Sam i followed your suggestion.
I solved my problem i don't know what was the exact problem I just removed the connection & plugged hdd again & booted from old hdd & now its recognising my new hdd!
