Problem occurred when plugging in floppy drive.

Hi,
I am Windows Vista on a PC. I bought it six months back.Suddenly tonight I have what appears to be a DOS screen that says "A Disk Read Error Occurred. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart". After doing a ctrl alt delete, I keep getting the same screen again. Can anyone tell me how to restart my PC? Is the hard drive problem?

Check the following things:

Double check the pins on the back of the floppy and check whether they are bent or broken. Try using different cable. In the bios be sure it the floppy is set to 1.44. You can also try going into the bios and choose reset configuration date to yes (This will reset CMOS settings). Then reenter the BIOS and select set BIOS defaults and reboot. When you try it be sure to try several different floppies. Also be sure you haven't broken the metal piece on a floppy off in the drive. If none of that works I would buy another floppy drive.
